PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS Non-profit organizations are welcome to submit public service announcements to AFR. Your submitted announcements will air on WQST-FM (92.5) and WATU-FM (89.3) only. Submissions may be made via mail, fax or e-mail. E-mailed submissions only may also be place on our web site. Please use the following guidelines when submitting your announcement: o <!--[endif]-->Include the five essentials in your announcement: who, what, where, when, and why <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Include a phone number that can be broadcast (guard your private numbers!) o <!--[endif]-->Do not include the name of a contact person or give multiple contact numbers <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Send one page only (a cover page is OK) <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Do not send a separate cover letter <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Type your announcement on organizational letterhead, double-spaced, and in one paragraph <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Do not hand-write your announcement or submit copies of flyers, brochures or web pages <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Get straight to the point, use simple sentences, and write in the third person (no "you" or "we") <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Don’t use bulleted lists, quotes, bad grammar, misspelled words or hyperbole <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Keep your announcement to 100 words or less (that’s 30 seconds) <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Do not give us too much info (such as a long list of speakers, seminar topics or hours) <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Use a large enough font size (12-point is good) <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Don’t use weird fonts, all caps, or include pictures or drawings <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Give brief information about your organization (if needed) <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Do not include a detailed history of your organization or driving directions <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Submit announcements for non-profit organizations only <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Do not expect “free publicity” for for-profit events (such as concerts) o <!--[endif]-->Submit your announcements at least two weeks before the event date (or ticket sale date) <!--[if !supportLists]-->o <!--[endif]-->Do not ask for specific run times, frequencies, or announcements of ongoing events
